Selling a domain

Sold without a
public price tag

A name listed on an open marketplace is a name whose value is being negotiated in public, by people who can see exactly how long it has sat there. We place premium domains directly with buyers who have already told us what they are looking for, and your ownership is disclosed only at the point of transfer.

The process

From valuation
to cleared funds

Five stages. You can stop after the valuation and owe us nothing at all, which a fair number of owners do.

01

Valuation

A written view within five working days, priced against private comparables rather than the handful of headline sales the trade likes to quote.

02

Strategy

Unlisted placement with buyers already on file, or a discreet approach to a shortlist. You decide who is approached and who is not.

03

Approach

Made in our name. Your ownership is not disclosed, and nothing about the name appears on a public listing at any point.

04

Negotiation

We hold the line on your reserve, handle the offers, and tell you plainly when an offer is the best the market will bear.

05

Completion

Regulated escrow, verified transfer, funds released to you. Commission is deducted only once the money is with you.

Terms

What it costs,
and what it does not

There is no charge to have a name looked at, and no charge if it does not sell. Commission is agreed in writing before we begin and comes out of the completion, so the only money that moves before then is nothing at all.

  • Written valuation, free, within five working days
  • Commission agreed up front and payable only on completion
  • No listing fees, no renewal fees, no marketing charges
  • No exclusivity beyond ninety days unless you choose to renew it
  • You keep control of the name and the registrar throughout
  • Your ownership disclosed only at the point of transfer

Check these six against your actual commercial terms and adjust before launch.

Suitability

What we can place

We are not the right home for every name. If yours is unlikely to sell at a level worth either of our time, we will tell you so at valuation rather than take it on and hope.

Usually yes

Short one word .com and .co.uk names, three letter and acronym domains, exact match category names, legacy registrations, and clean brandables with no trademark conflict.

Sometimes

Newer extensions with genuine sector demand, two word compounds with real search behind them, and portfolios sold as a single block.

Usually not

Hyphenated and numeric names, anything carrying a trademark risk, domains with a penalised or unpleasant history, and speculative registrations made last month.

Common questions

Straight answers

Ask if yours is not covered. We would rather answer it now than halfway through a sale.

Will anyone know the name is for sale?

Only the buyers we choose to approach, and only after you have agreed the list. There is no public listing, no auction page and no sale banner on the domain itself.

Do I have to transfer the name to you first?

No. It stays with you, at your registrar, until completion. We never ask an owner to hand over control in order to be represented.

How long does it usually take?

It depends entirely on whether the right buyer is already looking. Some names move in weeks, others sit for a year or more. We will give you an honest view at valuation rather than an optimistic one.

What if I change my mind?

Withdraw at any time before terms are agreed with a buyer, at no cost. Once terms are agreed we would expect you to honour them, as would the buyer.

Next step

Find out what it
is actually worth

Send us the name. The valuation is free, the conversation is confidential, and there is no obligation to sell at the end of it.
